MESA COUNTY METH TASK FORCE

The Mesa County Methamphetamine Task Force (MCMTF) is a community coalition that exists to implement the best practices of prevention, law enforcement, and treatment leading to maximal reductions of this addiction, and its resultant destructive consequences.

In 2007 the following activities were conducted by the Meth Task Force Coordinator:
• Over 70 presentations about the impact of meth abuse on the brain, the body and behavior, including 20 presentations focused on youth and parents
• Enhanced community awareness about Drug Endangered Children (DEC) recognizing October as DEC Month
• Monthly community meetings were held, focusing on topics such as: family and environmental impact plus the spiritual impact to name a few
• Crime statistics show that the focus of the local law enforcement "Street Crimes Units" are working
• Opening of a new treatment facility in Grand Junction, which can provide in-patient treatment for up to 48 people
